Female leadership doesn't ask for permission

There's a lot of talk about women "taking their place." But why should that place still be something they have to fight for? Female leadership isn't a watered-down version of power. It's neither a trend, nor a moral high ground, nor a CSR option for companies seeking a clear conscience.

It is a powerful, disturbing reality, and one that is still too often neutralized by contradictory injunctions: to be ambitious, but not too ambitious; assertive, but pleasant; a leader, but reassuring.

By trying to force women into boxes designed by and for others, we miss the point: female leadership is not a copy-paste of the male model, it is a refounding.

The real glass ceiling is cultural

It is not a lack of skills that holds women back.

It is the persistence of a power imaginary based on domination, permanent competition and disembodied performance.

However, this model is running out of steam.

Women who lead differently, with intuition, long-term vision, emotional intelligence, and relational courage, are not “lesser leaders.” They are ahead of the curve. They embody a leadership of connection, meaning, and impact. A leadership that doesn't crush, but uplifts.

And that's precisely what's disturbing.

Female power is not a threat

What is still called “female leadership” is not a sub-genre. It is a power that has been contained for too long, sometimes self-censored, often caricatured.

Women are asked to prove their legitimacy, when they should above all dare to be visible, audible, imperfect, and powerful. Feminine power is not a threat to collective equilibrium; it is a prerequisite for it.

Beauty, power, and insolence

Today I defend a simple but radical idea: beauty is not the enemy of power, and insolence is not a flaw.

To embrace one's voice, style, and vision is already a political act. To refuse to compromise in order to reassure, to apologize for existing, to reduce one's ambition to fit in: that is true leadership.
