Ribbed boxes are composite solid wood products that can be used for long-span floors and roofs, requiring high load-bearing capacity and low self-weight.
Our ribbed boxes are made of flat CLT wood panels glued together with reinforcing CLT ribs. The structural adhesives used provide exceptional strength and performance.
This makes it possible to achieve longer spans with the same structural thickness and to free up space with fewer load-bearing walls.
Furthermore, a ribbed panel can be installed in a single crane lift and allows for extremely rapid on-site installation compared to traditional joists.

The structural adhesive used between the components of Stora Enso's ribbed panels reduces the thickness of the load-bearing structure and optimizes the volume of the wood material. This gives Stora Enso's ribbed panels an advantage over conventional, mechanically assembled ribbed panels where the elements are simply screwed together.
As the only manufacturer of CLT and LVL ribbed panels with CE marking, Stora Enso benefits from the European Technical Approval (ETA) confirming that all Sylva ribbed panels meet the required European health, safety and environmental protection standards.
A Technical Approval Document (DTA) is available for floor applications and will soon be available for roofs.
