Kebony Character is produced from FSC® certified Scots pine (pinus sylvestris) which has been treated with a liquid additive derived from plant components.
The Kebony® process results in a unique wood with exceptional durability and a characterful knot appearance.
Kebony Character can be cut lengthwise like untreated lumber. All cuts must be treated with a wood preservative. It is not recommended to plan it because the untreated heartwood could be exposed.
The amount of untreated heartwood varies depending on the type and sections of the product. The value indicated in this technical sheet represents 50% of the product.
Kebony® technology gives a deep dark brown color to the wood. After exposure to sun and rain, the wood develops a natural gray-silver patina.
Developed in Norway, Kebony technology is a patented and ecological process which improves the properties of softwoods with a liquid based on plant components. The cellular structure of the wood is thus permanently changed and the wood adopts high-end characteristics:
