The new DJI ZENMUSE L2 sensor for the Matrice 350 RTK drone is the logical evolution of the “game changer” that was the DJI L1.
The DJI L2 incorporates a LiDAR module, a 4 Mpixel 3/20 CMOS photogrammetric sensor (identical to the Mavic 3 Enterprise) as well as a high-precision inertial unit (IMU). The IMU coupled with the drone's RTK system makes it possible to geolocate the point cloud. The camera allows colorization of the point cloud obtained thanks to LiDAR but also to make photogrammetric surveys and calculations.
Used with the DJI Matrice 350 RTK drone and DJI Terra software, the Zenmuse L2 is the complete solution for high-precision, real-time 3D data acquisition.
The L2's LiDAR sensor is very efficient. It detects objects up to 450m away and uses a choice of repetitive or non-repetitive pattern advanced to provide very precise details in the field of view. Its compact, dust-resistant housing (IP54) was specially designed to be integrated into the Matrice 350 RTK drone, with great autonomy and designed for the most difficult environments.
In addition, the LiDAR of the DJI L2 now has 5 echoes (compared to 3 for L1), providing significant improvement in the capture of natural terrain in vegetated areas.
Unlike its predecessor L1, the L2 inertial unit no longer requires preheating, providing a time saving not negligible during the readings.
It should be noted that this sensor can be used in current scenarios S1, S2 and S3 thanks to its light weight (approximately 900g).
La precision announced by DJI is 4cm vertical and 5cm horizontal, this again represents a nice evolution on its predecessor.
