Description See +Hide
LVL is a solid wood product, twice as strong as steel relative to its weight. It provides an ideal solution when robustness, dimensional stability, and high load-bearing capacity are essential.
LVL is made from several sheets of dried wood, graded according to their strength*, glued together in a controlled environment.
All our LVL products are certified and sourced from sustainably managed forests. When LVL by Stora Enso* is customized and delivered just-in-time, it is integrated into the Sylva™ by Stora Enso kit.
Primarily used for lightweight, long-span columns and beams, LVL can also be used in horizontal panels for floor or roof reinforcement in renovation projects, or for lightweight roofs in new construction.
Characteristics CheckHide
LVL by Stora Enso is made of 3 mm thick wood veneers bonded together with a high-performance adhesive. The logs used to manufacture LVL are peeled and dried in such a way that any natural imperfections in the wood are distributed across the entire veneer. This lamination process results in a straight and uniform material characterized by high strength and rigidity.
Sylva LVL beams and columns are available in panels up to 75x2400x24000 mm, custom-cut and CNC-machined to the required dimensions. For thicknesses exceeding 75 mm, Stora Enso offers Sylva LVL G beams and columns, manufactured by bonding LVL panels together on their surface.
The advantages of LVL for design and construction
- Lightweight yet robust: twice as strong as steel relative to its weight, and five times lighter than concrete
- Homogeneity and stability of shapes, without deformation, chips or cracks
- Sylva LVL posts and beams are prefabricated and delivered Just-in-Time (JIT) to reduce construction waste and enhance construction efficiency.
