Batinfo: To begin with, can you quickly come back to Myral's story?

Sylvain Bonnot: For 36 years Myral has specialized in exterior insulation. Initially focused on installation, the company then industrialized to manufacture the optimal MYRAL solution.
We have therefore developed and designed our products to meet all the technical and regulatory requirements, this implies permanent changes because the requirements are constantly changing at all levels.
But beyond adapting to all changes, we are used to anticipating them to always be ahead.
This is the case for the environmental impact of our products: from 2015 we already had our FDES sheet, which allows us to know the CO² weight of our products. At the time, this analysis enabled us to internalize the production of one of the components, which made it possible to divide the carbon footprint by two for this component.
However, in 2015 there was still no regulatory obligation to limit the carbon impact. But this anticipation allowed us last year to launch a major project to reduce the carbon weight of our products by 63%.
Batinfo: What about the company today?
Sylvain Bonnot: The MYRAL solution involves the massive use of recycled material for the manufacture of our products. The goal is that in 2025 the majority of components will come from our domestic waste.
Used aluminum cans can be used, for example, for siding, plastic bottles for insulation. The old PVC joinery is also included in the design of our products.
We turn waste into materials that will save heat for decades. We consider it to be even better than bio-based, because we only recycle the contents of our bins, without taking anything from nature.
Obviously there remains a minority of new material, but as we are able to process end-of-life materials, this material can be used beyond its life cycle.
Batinfo: How do you envision the future for Myral?
Sylvain Bonnot: The company is in perpetual development: we produce more than 300.000 m² of insulating materials each year, and much more than that will be needed for the years to come because the ITE market is booming.
To assume this development MYRAL must push its walls. Our offices are now 25 years old, it is time to enter a new dimension by modernizing them while tripling their surface over the year.
We are going to take advantage of this project to put into practice the lightest carbon solutions, it will be the demonstration of our know-how and our expertise. It is of course a question of recovering all the materials for reuse. These will be treated in such a way as to be the most carbon-efficient, coupled with an exterior wall intended to recover heat.
This project therefore has not only a great symbolic significance but also a real educational dimension. By implementing our low-carbon solutions, this will be an opportunity for us to demonstrate them in practice to our customers and to prove, if still needed, the relevance of our products and our vision. Our ambition is to offer the most advanced Vêture system on the market and we can't wait to put it all into practice!
