Interview with Albert Zamuner, President of UNED

Batinfo: Hello Mr. Zamuner, you have just been elected President of UNED, can you remind us of the areas of intervention of this organization?

Albert Zamuner: The UNED (National Union of Waste Operators) is a specific organization which works on all the components of construction waste: Aggregate resources, recovery and recycling, but also the treatment of the ultimate.

Our members are companies that operate quarries, recycling platforms, ISDI (Inert Waste Storage Facility) and ISDND (Non-Hazardous Waste Storage Facility)

Batinfo: What are the priorities of your mandate?

Albert Zamuner: UNED's priorities are multiple. First of all improve, through pedagogy and consultation, the acceptability of our future facilities and thus participate in the development of the territorial network which is sorely lacking today. We also want to fight so that the land entering our facilities is considered to be valued as soon as the project is exemplary in terms of landscape integration and is of public utility. Finally we will continue our fight against illegal sites to participate in improving environmental and economic balances.

Batinfo: What does the TECV * law inspire in you?

Albert Zamuner: UNED supports the principle of developing the energy transition, which is a major societal and environmental issue. The TECV * law gives a useful direction and interesting objectives. However, our union is concerned about certain provisions which may call into question the merits of our activities. Indeed, some current texts can be read and interpreted in a biased manner. We will therefore ask for a clarification of these texts so that they are in line with the fundamental principles of our activities.
