ViaCon France innovates and revolutionizes water storage with flange connections

The durability of the waterproofing of a water storage structure is crucial in the choice of the technical solution. This waterproofing is required for different destinations and uses:

• Water storage for external fire defense (D9)
• Containment of fire extinguishing water for ICPE (D9A)
• Reuse of rainwater for recovery (watering, water not intended for human consumption, etc.)
• Reuse of process water (industry, DATACENTER, etc.)

ViaCon France, a French manufacturer since 1987 with more than 35.000 construction site references, relies on the expertise of the ViaCon Group subsidiaries to develop a watertight flange connection solution. The principle of this junction consists of bolting two welded flanges onto the Spirel® pipes on site, thus compressing a double sealing gasket.

This technique also provides a sustainable solution for structures located in the presence of a water table. The flanges make it possible to secure each element of the structure to resist possible movements of the peripheral embankments under the fluctuating action of a water table, thus guaranteeing the reliability of the waterproofing in these difficult conditions where few products remain suitable.

The flange connection solution ViaCon also allows to reduce the carbon impact compared to monobloc tanks thanks to the optimization of supplies. It also authorizes the visit and cleaning of the structure in its entirety.

A first achievement took place in July with the installation of 800 ml of Spirel® Ø1500 pipes for a logistics building. The structure had to meet perfect watertightness because it was intended to confine polluted water in the event of a fire (D9A) and buried with a high water table. Other projects with flanged connections are already being delivered and scheduled.
