Naturally, wood tops the list of popular materials given its durable, insulating, and aesthetic qualities. And in keeping with the need to care for one's heritage, maintaining and protecting wood is a no-brainer. If we were to prescribe a prescription for wood maintenance, the first recommendation would be to work on a clean surface.

Wood is becoming more and more attractive to outdoor spaces every year, making terraces and cladding shine. However, it is a natural material that will be subject to the climatic hazards of the environment in which it is located, as well as abrasion due to its use. While it should be protected to ensure its longevity, the first step, before applying any finish, is always to check that the wood is clean and free of any residue from old finishes, dirt, or external pollution such as moss, fungi, etc.

Cleaning instructions

An essential step in the preparation and maintenance of wood, cleaning is divided into several phases depending on the condition of the wood. And before starting, it is imperative to analyze the wood in order to make the right choices, not to spoil the operation and risk having to do it again.

A few shades of gray...

• If the wood is gray and dull: it is because it has been exposed to the elements, possibly without prior protection, and it has undergone the aging cycle of "water + UV + pollution", it must be stripped to restore its shine.
• If the wood is blackened: it is dirty with greasy dirt embedded in the fibers, often oils cooked in the sun, only the use of an oil remover will remove oils clogged with UV rays.
• If the wood is covered with an old film-forming finish, it must be completely removed and the only effective action is then stripping.

We understand the importance of deciphering upstream. In particular, the effectiveness of a degreaser implies that the surface does not have any film on the surface, otherwise its action would not produce any results and it would be necessary to start all over again to degrease or strip.

BACKWOOD, the modern-day 90% bio-sourced oil remover, offers a unique formula, dedicated to terraces or horizontal surfaces, which allows it to act in 30 minutes directly after application. Its light citrus scent makes it a pleasant product to apply. It is also easy to work with because you just need to leave it on for 30/40 minutes in a thick layer and check in a corner if the wood is clean, ready to be rinsed before neutralizing with NET-TROL®. If the wood is not ready, simply leave the product to act a little longer and rub lightly while rinsing.

Most : Its technical composition means it does not attack the plastics and liners present on wooden pool decks.

Strip everything in bio-sourced form

OWASTRIP and its 90% bio-sourced formula can strip all wood where stripping or degreasing is not enough. It acts quickly in 30 minutes and does not require tedious rinsing where vigorous scrubbing would be required. Its fluid formula makes it ideal for hard-to-access or highly worked surfaces (doors, gates, barriers, etc.) and large surfaces to be stripped.
