Planibel Clearlite Low-Carbon Glass: a flat glass for more environmentally friendly glazing

That of standard glass produced by AGC Glass Europe amounts to 10,3 kg of CO 2 eq/m². This impressive reduction in the carbon footprint is the result of many years of research and ecological investments.

Low-Carbon Planibel Clearlite glass has the same appearance and offers exactly the same performance as standard Planibel Clearlite float glass. It can be assembled into laminated glass and/or provided with a solar control and low-emissivity coating for transformation into double and triple glazed thermal insulation glass.

This performance is based on the modification of production furnaces, the supply of green energy, transportation and the greater integration of cullet (recycled flat glass). By using more than 50% recycled glass in its production, AGC not only reduces waste, but also the energy consumption required to manufacture new glass. In addition, the company has launched a flat glass recovery service (Recycle Glass), allowing the reintroduction of old glass from glazing recovered during deconstruction or renovation of facades into the production cycle.

At the Sustainable Industry Day 2024 organized by Usine Nouvelle, AGC Glass received the Innovative Material trophy for its Low-Carbon Glass. This award recognizes AGC's constant efforts to promote a more environmentally friendly industry. By having a holistic approach throughout its flat glass production process, AGC demonstrates that it is possible to combine industrial performance and ecological responsibility.
