Some essential precepts about rust

It's obvious: rust never happens by chance and its appearance is predictable if all the conditions are met.

In fact, it is an inevitable process of oxidation of ferrous metals unless they are properly protected beforehand.

Why and how does rust appear?

It forms on ferrous metal when it is unprotected and in contact with air and moisture: the iron oxidizes and becomes rust. Once rust has started to form, it continues to spread. It must then be removed and then the surface protected to prevent it from reoccurring. It is, of course, possible to prevent its appearance by protecting structures, objects, and metal parts of the surfaces. Once the process is understood, action must be taken to prevent rust from appearing or to stop it.

Transform, destroy or neutralize... Who does what?

Rust destroyer: it destroys and eliminates all rust and exposes the metal. It is then essential to protect it to prevent it from reoccurring.

Please note: the intrinsic nature of the treatment, as well as the essential step of cleaning the particles created by the destructor, risks restarting the rust formation cycle. It is therefore imperative to protect the surface to avoid any further deterioration.

Rust transformer: It transforms iron oxide into another, more stable iron oxide, black iron tannate, which will better resist oxidation. However, this transformation does not guarantee the exclusion of a new re-spraying because rust spots always remain in the support and could cause rust to restart. In addition, the film formed by this transformer will tend to peel off easily.

Neutralize: The action consists of stopping and isolating the rust inside the support, where it is located to block the process and stabilize the support. In this case, the support is protected over time against any recurrence.

In detail...

IMPREGNATE: thanks to its ultra-wetting composition, RUSTOL-OWATROL®92 diffuses into the smallest gaps in the structure to be protected and tracks down every particle of rust: it penetrates everywhere.

NEUTRALIZE: In the presence of rust, it immediately bonds with it, generating an ultra-flexible and insulating protective film upon drying. The surface becomes impermeable to air and moisture: the rust is neutralized and stopped.

LAST: once in the substrate, the active ingredients of RUSTOL-OWATROL®92 penetrate to the heart of the rust and, by drying, fix and insulate it for a long time.

Please note: applied as a preventative measure, the RUSTOL-OWATROL®92 film protects against the potential appearance of rust.

One product, several actions

Applied as a primer on porous surfaces before receiving the application of a finishing, protective or decorative paint (excluding acrylic finishes), RUSTOL-OWATROL®92 optimizes adhesion for all coatings.

Used as an additive, it facilitates the application of paints, stains, glycerophthalic varnishes and alkyd-urethanes. The paint is more fluid, adheres better, spreads more easily, the flow is significantly improved and the finish is magnified.

On wood before a stain, it impregnates the support and provides a good grip for the finish at the same time as anti-rust protection.
