The problem of a sports arena: the UrbanSoccer buildings in Angers
Due to the great need for fresh air, traditional air conditioning is expensive and ill-suited. In addition, on such volumes, operating costs are all the more important as air conditioning must be put into operation well in advance of events in order to anticipate heat needs, and to benefit from a minimum of 'inertia.
Adiabatic: a natural solution
Refreshment adiabatic is a natural response perfectly suited to this type of building.
The adiabatic works with 100% fresh air thanks to a substantial air renewal which makes it possible to maintain an optimum quality of ambient air. The outside air is cooled by evaporation of water. This natural process lowers the air temperature with a very low energy requirement. Only the energy necessary for the air to pass through the cooler and the diffusion of the air is consumed by the fan. The other components (drain valve, water inlet valve, circulation pump, regulation) have minimum energy consumption.
The introduction of this fresh air into the space of the building makes it possible, by a slight overpressure and the opening (in the upper part preferably) of front or roof openings, to drive out the calories which are at the origin of discomfort.
UrbanSoccer: replacing air conditioning with adiabatic installation
In 2019, on the UrbanSoccer site located in Angers, the faulty original air conditioning was replaced by coolers Bluetek IDENTITY WetboxWFP 30 D blowing down.
An opening through the roof was made by the agency SIA North-West to allow the installation of an air distribution system by long-range textile duct at the level of the access corridors to the grounds. This installation made it possible not to have a sheath directly above the playing area; the blowing system now makes it possible to bring in air and create thermal comfort over the entire site.
Currently, UrbanSoccer, in each of its five indoor 5 football spaces, has an autonomous cooler which allows total flexibility of use. An individual wall control facilitates simple operation for the user.

Fresh, healthy and comfortable air for adiabatic cooling!
The coolers operate in "all new air", the stale air is therefore constantly renewed, for fresh, healthy and comfortable air! Air conditioning dries up the air, which can make you sick; evaporative air fresheners maintain a beneficial humidity for the human body according to the recommendations of the NF 7730 standard. Static electricity decreases and the machines function properly.
A limited ecological footprint!
- Very low power consumption.
- Optimized water consumption because it depends on the outside temperature.
- No refrigerant gas or chemicals.
In order to compare; every day we consume liters of water without realizing it. For example, it takes an average of 11 liters of water to make jeans (from the raw material to the end consumer)!

Zero risk of legionellosis!
The so-called "Legionnaire's disease" is transmitted exclusively by inhalation of contaminated micro-droplets. With the adiabatic process, no micro-droplets are entrained in the air flow, the speed through the exchangers being too low. When the appliance is in operation, the water temperature is too low for bacteria to develop. When the appliance is off, rinsing and emptying cycles are automatically activated to prevent any proliferation of bacteria.
Zero cases of Legionellosis were attributable to the 30 million coolers installed in the world!
