A curvaceous and slate nursery

With its contemporary lines, the building features traditional materials, in particular slate which forms a homogeneous exterior envelope. The use of the CUPACLAD Random system also recalls the schist masonry which is very present locally.

Developed by CUPA PIZARRAS, the CUPACLAD system was born from the need to adapt natural slate to new styles and architectural trends, and which require a more ecological and sustainable construction.

"The crib is designed like a black monolith, with a single material so as not to get lost in excessive ornamentation. The colored berries form frames that soar in search of light, they punctuate this envelope like musical notes which would float on a musical score ", explains Xavier Van Rooyen, architect.

The project was therefore oriented towards an innovative building, as much in terms of architecture, landscape integration and interior atmosphere. The nursery is also functional and meets the standards for low-energy construction with gas heating, underfloor heating in the living rooms, rainwater collection, LED lighting, etc.

The crib has a wooden structure, very light and visible, which gives a warm atmosphere to the interior. Outside, the whole is covered with slate cladding.
