With Homematic IP, the smart home becomes its own comprehensive security and alarm system

Unlike a traditional alarm system, a smart home solution interconnects different components to ensure true access control and trigger alarms when needed, even remotely. According to a recent study*, 77% of French people say that seeking better home security is one of the main motivations for purchasing home automation equipment.

To meet this growing demand, the German company eQ-3 is expanding its Homematic IP system mid-year with a new range of security-focused products: lock mechanisms, indoor and outdoor cameras, and a video doorbell. In addition, the Homematic IP app is getting an improved alarm and security interface to provide users with an even simpler, more convenient, and intuitive digital dashboard.

The Homematic IP modular home automation system centralizes the management and control of the main functions of a connected home, such as heating, lighting, sun protection and security.

Thanks to their ease of installation and setup, the new Homematic IP products become active components of a home automation security system, ensuring comprehensive home protection. The system is scalable and expandable, allowing for optimized, and even reduced, installation costs.

The heart of the system: the new alarm management interface

The Homematic IP app now features a new security and alarm dashboard. The interface centralizes the status of all sensors, actuators, and detectors connected to your devices. The app displays real-time video and audio feeds, recordings, and push notifications. Users can therefore trigger actions remotely at any time to maintain maximum control.

Homematic IP's 2026 innovations in access control and surveillance

Unveiled as a preview at the Light + Building 2026 trade fair, Homematic IP's latest security products complement an already extensive and constantly evolving range.

Le new lock mechanism - pro It is equipped with position and vibration sensors to immediately detect any attempt to tamper with the front door or the device itself. With the Homematic IP app, the door can be opened, locked, and unlocked remotely. It also allows you to set automatic locking mechanisms and assign access permissions.

The new Homematic IP security cameras with integrated microphones are used to monitor indoor and outdoor areas. Equipped with motion detectors, these cameras provide high-resolution images. Video and audio recordings are stored locally on a memory card.

The new Homematic IP video doorbell also integrates an HD camera. It features a presence detector and intercom functions.

The outdoor equipment, cameras and video doorbell, are IP65 waterproof and have night vision.

A security system protected against external attacks

As a guarantee of exceptional reliability, the Homematic IP system is VDE certified annually. This certification covers the security of its protocols, IT systems, and data. All communications are encrypted, the servers are located in Germany, and they comply with strict European data protection regulations. Personal data is not stored in the Homematic IP system; only the IP address is recorded in encrypted form for operational purposes.
