Zero-interest loan: faced with the government's obstinacy, a broad consensus in favor of its maintenance

The government persists in wanting to restrict this system to urban areas and only collective housing, thus depriving 93% of the territory of any support for new construction, while real estate loan rates have soared.

After the positive vote of the finance committee of the National Assembly, after the support of more than 300 deputies from both the majority and the opposition, after the support of local elected officials from the Association of Mayors of France, the Senate has just voted overwhelmingly in favor of maintaining the PTZ in its current format.

The government must hear this broad consensus. The FFB calls for a return to real consultation with the construction sector on a subject central to the daily lives of the French. Conventional speeches on the housing crisis are no longer enough.

The Federation is also pleased to have been heard by the government on the modification of the scope of reduced rate VAT for energy renovation work. Through a government amendment adopted in the Senate, the public authorities ended up admitting that this modification could not be made suddenly and required “more in-depth consultation with building professionals”. Consultation and dialogue must, in fact, prevail on all occasions.

For Olivier Salleron, president of the FFB: “The overwhelming majority of deputies, senators and local elected officials do not understand the stubbornness of the government on the PTZ while the current situation clearly pleads for its maintenance with the collapse of construction figures, the difficulties of the French to housing, the decline in employment figures and the feeling of social relegation of French people living outside urban areas. »
