What is Cradle to Cradle Certification?

The international Cradle to Cradle Certified® certification, created in 2002 by chemist Michael Braungart and architect William McDonough, is based on an industrial philosophy inspired by natural cycles. Unlike the traditional linear “make-use-dispose” model, this approach proposes a regenerative model where products can be broken down, reused and recycled without negatively impacting the environment.

Certification is based on five fundamental pillars:

• Non-toxicity of materials: selection of materials without risk to health and the environment.
• Reuse of materials: easy disassembly and recycling of components.
• Use of renewable energy: production based on clean energy sources.
• Responsible water management: reduction of consumption and safe treatment of discharges.
• Respect for human rights: ethical and social balance throughout the supply chain.

C2C certification is available in four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, depending on the degree of ecological and social performance achieved by the products.

3. ORSY® cases: a Silver certified commitment
