Highlights, news and programming for the 2023 edition
On Thursday April 6, the ambassadors and members of the WOODRISE Steering Committee presented the novelties, highlights and programming of the 4nd edition of the international congress dedicated to medium and high-rise wooden buildings, WOODRISE, which will be held in Bordeaux from October 17 to 20.
Plenaries, workshops, thematic areas, etc. are thus on the program for these 4 days of exhibition to allow players in the sector to exchange and debate around these issues, share their feedback and deepen their knowledge in this area, and beyond, to advance their projects.
WOODRISE: What is it?
In October 2017, the 1er WOODRISE international congress opens its doors in France, in Bordeaux. Launched on the initiative of the FCBA Technological Institute (France), FPInnovations (Canada) and the Building Research Institute (Japan), the objective was to promote, support and contribute to the international development of medium and high-rise wood construction. . A success for this first edition: 2 people came from all over the world to take part in the 500 days of the event. The entire forest-wood sector was thus represented: developers, contracting authorities, project managers, manufacturers, institutions, communities, researchers, etc.
Building on this success, the WOODRISE congress then traveled to Quebec in 2019, and to Japan, first to Kyoto in 2021, then to Tokyo in 2022. It is now returning to France, still in Bordeaux, from 17 to October 20, 2023, at Palais 2 l'Atlantique in Bordeaux.
Organized this year by the FCBA Technological Institute, FPInnovations, the Building Research Institute and JIBH, WOODRISE 2023 responds to a central ambition: to contribute to the transformation of cities and the ecological transition of buildings, fundamentals of carbon neutrality.
WOODRISE 2023: presentation of the program
For this new edition, three key themes around wood construction will be in the spotlight:
- Low carbon
- Economic competitiveness and green finance
- International medium and high-rise timber construction
These central themes of WOODRISE 2023 will make it possible to explore, throughout the congress, various challenges of medium and high-rise wood construction: low-carbon technical solutions, from production to work; carbon storage and substitution, from the forest to the work; circular economy and reuse; green economy and carbon in sustainable finance; the management of wood resources in construction and lifestyles; etc
To allow visitors to exchange, debate and deepen their knowledge around these issues, WOODRISE 2023 has planned:
- Three plenaries on 1er and 2nd exhibition day : “Decarbonizing Buildings and the City with Wood”; “How to promote the competitiveness of wood construction? » ; “Mid-rise and high-rise timber construction projects from around the world”.
- Different technical workshops around acoustic and dynamic performance, fire safety, the digital value chain, the circular economy and the reuse and forest resources.
- A large exhibition space of 3000 m², able to accommodate more than a hundred exhibitors.
- A business meeting space;
- Etc
