Vinci and Siemens Energy have won a 2,9 billion euro contract to design, build and install two electricity conversion platforms for a wind farm in the North Sea, the French construction group announced on Wednesday July 17.
The German electricity network operator 50Hertz has awarded Dragados Offshore, a subsidiary of the Vinci group's Cobra IS company, as well as Siemens Energy, this project including an offshore platform, which will convert the alternating current produced into direct current. by the LanWin 3 wind farm 120 km from the German coast, Vinci said in a press release.
The contract also includes "an onshore station, located in Schwerin in the north-east of Germany (which) will convert this direct current into alternating current. This will then be injected into the electricity network to be transported and then distributed in the south of the country.
The platform intended to be installed at sea will be built in the Dragados Offshore shipyard in Andalusia (southern Spain), according to the same source.
Including this contract, Cobra IS "will be responsible for building nine offshore electric power conversion platforms" with a cumulative capacity of "around 16 GW", specifies Vinci.
