Selected at the end of a rigorous call for tenders, the Wilo lifting stations have made it possible to gain in efficiency and solve the problems of blockages, safety and comfort, posed by the maintenance operations which are carried out in areas of passage of Belle-Île-en-Mer.
Old posts regularly crowded
The two municipalities shared similar problems. The lifting stations were located in sensitive places: close to a port handling area, more precisely at the entrance to a freight area in the commune of the Palace and in a promenade area, enhanced by restaurants, at Sauzon.
Too dilapidated, the two stations were no longer efficient enough to ensure the evacuation of water laden with grease and tow. Regularly congested, they required up to 2 maintenance operations per week, causing odor and noise discomfort but also security risks.
“We had to find a solution to reduce the too many maintenance operations that could take place at noon in front of tourists! " comments Florian BESNIER, Head of Household and Similar Waste / Sanitation CCBI.
A new process
In the commune of the Palais, the replacement and relocation of the substation outside a traffic area was part of a more general project to rehabilitate the networks. In Sauzon, on the other hand, the topography did not allow the new WILO-EMUPORT post to be moved.
This constraint was resolved thanks to the design of the EMUPORT. Station made of HDPE and fully sealed, it saves both time on maintenance and avoids restrictive interventions for the operator (empty the screen basket, unclog the pumps, odor and corrosion linked to H2S. ..).
Greases and dies do not come into contact with the hydraulics of the pumps installed in dry pits and they are collected and screened beforehand in screening rooms. The water without solid matter is then stored in a collecting tank, equipped with a regulation system. When one of the two pumps is triggered, the screened water is redirected to the screened chamber and returned to the network. Thanks to this new process, the number of interventions has been divided by 3.
Finally, the operating teams operate in a more hygienic environment, they are no longer in contact with effluents and odors, submersible pumps being installed in a dry pit.
