An international leader in the extrusion of PVC profiles for joinery (windows, doors, shutters), VEKA is today marking a key stage in its development by acquiring a new tool to meet the growing needs of the French market. Now full, the ActiSud business park in Grand Chalon is experiencing strong attractiveness.
A platform designed to support the group's development
Located on 4,6 hectares of land in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes, the future logistics platform of the VEKA group will cover an area of 11.000 m². It will include a storage area of 3.000 m² and an office space of 400 m².
The result of an investment of 16,5 million euros by VEKA France, this project is part of a long-term strategy aimed at increasing the production capacity of the Thonon-les-Bains extrusion plant and meeting a growing demand for energy-efficient joinery. It will allow VEKA to consolidate its logistics activities on a site in an ideal location in France and thus ensure a high level of service to its French joinery manufacturing customers. The objective is also to improve employee well-being by freeing up space on the Thonon site.
The work, which began in June 2024, will be completed in June 2025 and will be commissioned in September 2025. Fully integrated into the group's growth strategy on the French market, the platform, which will welcome 25 employees when it opens, will also have an extension reserve of more than 50% to support changes in production volumes.
A responsible approach
The VEKA France project in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes stands out for its environmentally friendly approach. JMG Partners, in charge of carrying out the project, has taken care to integrate strong ecological measures, in particular landscaping based on the Miyawaki method, which allows for a high plant density and increased biodiversity. During this project, where all the waste will be revalued, no fewer than 250 trees and shrubs will be planted, as well as hedges and numerous shelters such as nest boxes and hibernacula, to accommodate local wildlife. The presence of sheep will help eliminate invasive plant species on the site.
The building will be equipped with a photovoltaic plant covering the entire roof, allowing the energy produced to be injected into the network and ultimately self-consumption on site. In addition to the presence of charging stations for electric vehicles, all lighting will be LED, thus contributing to reducing the site's energy footprint.
A close partnership with local stakeholders
Beyond the qualities of the site and the building, the success of the operation is the result of the partnership approach adopted by JMG Partners with local stakeholders, in particular the Grand Chalon agglomeration and the SEM Val Bourgogne, which facilitated the rapid installation of VEKA in this strategic area. This collaboration made it possible to anticipate and secure the necessary authorizations to optimize deadlines and guarantee the schedule.
For Emmanuel Demesmay, General Manager of VEKA France: "This new logistics platform will accommodate all of the stock currently managed on the VEKA site in Thonon-les-Bains. PVC joinery is THE solution in terms of performance, design and recyclability, meeting an ever-increasing demand for insulation, reducing the carbon footprint and saving energy. The spaces freed up in Haute Savoie will thus be used to improve employee well-being and accommodate new extrusion lines for increased production capacity. With this new industrial investment, the VEKA Group intends to further strengthen its presence on the French market and guarantee a high level of quality and services for our joinery, craftsman and industrial partners."
For Eric Gagnière, President of JMG Partners: « Our close partnership with the Grand Chalon agglomeration and the Sem Val de Bourgogne allowed us to be very responsive in adapting our project to the needs of the VEKA group and launching the construction of the platform in record time. Beyond the virtuous real estate project, we are proud to have been able to contribute to the development of our industrial partner and the streamlining of its supply chain! »
For Sébastien MARTIN, President of Grand Chalon: « The arrival of VEKA France in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes is good news, a sign of the economic attractiveness of our region for industrial groups looking for levers for development. With this new site in the Greater Chalon region, we hope to be able to continue the contribution of the Greater Chalon region to the French industrial revival. »
