Evolving in the world of housing for more than 20 years, Valérie Gourvès has led consulting, testing and certification activities, successively in industry and in the Technical Center. A multi-activity and multidisciplinary experience that she now puts at the service of the Safety – Structures – Fire Department, mobilizing all of CSTB's activities. Beyond the global approach to the safety of the building stock, Valérie Gourvès sees in her new functions the opportunity to contribute to key issues for the sector and more broadly for the general interest.
Valérie Gourvès, woman of convictions
A chemical engineer, Valérie Gourvès is a graduate of the National School of Chemistry (ENSCM) in Montpellier and the Institute of Business Administration (IAE Paris). In 1996, after a first experience in the field of paint production dedicated to artists, she joined the Center Technique du Bois et de l'Ameublement, now FCBA. She managed several activities there, in particular from 2003, the fire reaction test laboratory, before taking over the management of the certification unit, then of the multi-activity center “Furniture and Development of Living Spaces”.
She is now joining the CSTB as Operational Director Safety, Structures and Fire:
For Valérie Gourvès, Operational Director Safety - Structures - Fire: “The Safety – Structures – Fire Department works on the fundamental challenges of construction, in particular risk management, and contributes, with all the CSTB teams, to advancing knowledge in the service of the industry and the general interest. Faced with environmental and demographic challenges and changing lifestyles, adapting the building stock to the context and the needs of tomorrow is a necessity for building and real estate players. With my team, I am particularly mobilized to support them in innovation in order to meet these key challenges. Assessing a new material for its structural suitability can no longer be done without thinking about the environmental issues, the end of life of this material and its contribution to other areas such as comfort, acoustics, quality of air… In this, the CSTB, which has a holistic and multidisciplinary approach at the component, building and urban scale, is for me a pioneer. I am delighted to join the CSTB and to take the lead of a very fine team, which brings together rich skills and demonstrates a strong commitment to serving our customers and partners, with a view to contributing to making construction a sector with a positive impact. »
