Beneath the atrium of the Jardin de Verre by Locke, Reflex'Sol enhances the Parisian light.

From the signature suites to the atrium, light shapes the spaces and invites exploration. To preserve this luminous balance, REFLEX'SOL has designed a bespoke sun protection solution, combining architectural integration and textile innovation.

Not far from the Panthéon and the Jardin des Plantes, Le Jardin de Verre by Locke occupies a unique architectural setting where two contrasting heritages converse: a former 20th-century industrial factory and an 18th-century Parisian residence – raw power on one side and sophisticated elegance on the other. Inspired by the history of the site, as well as that of the neighborhood long renowned for its green spaces, the Fettle design studio conceived a hotel where the past is reinvented, combining nature, spaciousness, and elegance. This vision takes shape at the heart of the building through a vast atrium, as well as through the glass roofs that punctuate the signature suites. Together, they open the spaces to the sky, allowing natural light to permeate the rooms and reintroduce the spirit of gardens into the very heart of the architectural project. This abundance of light, central to the hotel's identity, presents a technical challenge: ensuring optimal thermal comfort throughout the day without compromising the aesthetics of the glass roofs. As part of the overall rehabilitation led by the EDYN group, a solar protection solution capable of discreetly integrating into the architecture of the atrium and glass roofs quickly became essential.

A tailor-made solution for dressing up glass roofs

To preserve this balance of light while ensuring the comfort of the spaces, REFLEX'SOL, through its partner Easy Stores, proposed a solar protection solution specifically adapted to the building's architecture. Beneath the atrium, six SOLARIA velum blinds were discreetly integrated under the large glass roof. Their fluid deployment allows for modulation of sunlight throughout the day, filtering the light while maintaining a feeling of openness to the sky. In the adjoining spaces and under the glass roofs of the signature suites, twenty VEGA roller blinds were custom-made to perfectly match the building's unique geometries. Triangles, trapezoids, or angled shapes: each piece was designed to integrate precisely with the existing structure, in a powder-coated slate gray finish that complements the project's architectural lines. Motorized and precisely controlled, these devices regulate sunlight throughout the day while respecting the aesthetic purity of the glass roof.

A soft light, the signature of the place

At the heart of the design, the choice of fabric plays a crucial role in the experience of the space. Selected in an ivory shade, the 323 heat-absorbing fabric developed by REFLEX'SOL diffuses a soft and warm light under the glass roofs of the Jardin de Verre by Locke, perfectly complementing the plant-filled atmosphere envisioned by the designers.

The result of patented expertise and manufactured in France, it features a reflective metallic surface capable of reflecting up to 86% of solar radiation outwards. This controls the heat generated by the glazed surfaces, while preserving the transparency and brightness of the architecture. The volumes retain their lightness and aesthetic appeal, without compromising the thermal comfort of the spaces.

With this achievement, REFLEX'SOL demonstrates once again its ability to support the most demanding architectural projects, where the mastery of light — between technical performance and aesthetic integration — becomes a central element of the experience of the place.
