Two workers aged 26 and 45 were killed Monday by the collapse of a wall on a construction site in Saint-Georges d'Oléron (Charente-Maritime), the firefighters said in a press release.
A young 15-year-old apprentice was "seriously injured" in this accident and airlifted to the Poitiers hospital center.
According to the mayor of Saint-Georges d'Oléron, Dominique Rabelle, the wall "three meters high and eight wide", adjoining a campsite and a house under construction, collapsed on the victims during a construction site in the morning.
“The firefighters tried to resuscitate them for more than an hour, in vain”, added the elected representative of this town located on the Island of Oléron, specifying that it is a professional masonry company located in the town. who was in charge of the work.
