To create this factory, MGH invested 3,5 million euros to set up the production site, R&D and its quality laboratory. The site has a storage capacity of 250 tons and produces 125 tons of polyols formulated each week for its customers, professionals in the interior and exterior insulation in sprayed polyurethane of floors, walls and roofs for the tertiary sector, industry, the collective and the individual house.
Polyols for closed-cell and open-cell systems: from thermal performance to acoustic performance
The new TPF Industrie plant is the only French formulator of polyols intended for the spraying of polyurethane for the building industry. It manufactures and delivers polyol for both open-cell and closed-cell polyurethane applications. Once delivered, TPF Industrie customers manufacture the insulating material directly on site by mixing the polyols with a reactive agent. The range of processes thus implemented is intended for the thermal and acoustic insulation of all sides of a building.
What currently mobilizes 85% of production are closed cell formulas. They have the best ratio: low thickness / thermal performance and will benefit from record incompressibility characteristics to insulate all types of concrete or wooden floors. The insulating layer can receive all types of screeds and coatings. The insulation of perimeter masonry walls can be insulated with closed cell polyurethane to gain living space and at the same time ensure the airtightness imposed by thermal regulations. If the frames are wooden, we prefer open cell insulation of the walls. These insulating processes are thicker but less dense than the previous ones, thus allowing an improvement in the sound environment of the dwelling.
Finally, to thermally insulate the roofs, while protecting the occupants from exterior noise pollution in the event of heavy rains or a noisy environment, the ideal solution is to use open-cell formulas. They are available in several density ranges, depending on the supports or particular uses, for each wall, its “tailor-made” insulation solution.
Aged lambda (λ): the retained thermal performance of a closed-cell insulation
The λ is the unit of measurement for the conductivity therHowever, the lower its value, the better the insulating performance. Closed cell polyurethane expands thanks to a blowing agent to improve thermal performance and have good volumetric resistance over time. If the material has a λ of 0,020 during its application, this changes during the first year.
The swelling agent it contains remains for the most part a prisoner in the cells and acts identically to argon in double glazing. The retained thermal conductivity, or aged lambda, will be reached 12 months after application of the insulation. It varies on average by 5 mW (milliwatt) compared to the initial, an aged λ of 0,025 is the standard for this type of formula. Throughout the year, TPF Industrie tests in its laboratory the closed-cell insulation of its applicator customers in order to verify their compliance with the certifications on which they depend.
These checks also attest to the correct settings of the projection unit and the linear quality of the insulation it manufactures.
More virtuous polyols
TPF Industrie inaugurated its production site by developing a more virtuous formulation than what was previously manufactured in Europe. Polyols dedicated to closed cell polyurethane are now expanded with an HFO blowing agent (HydroFluoro-Olefins), instead of HFC (HydroFluoro-Carbides) which will be banned in 2023 in any industry in Europe.
TPF Industrie has thus anticipated the regulations and offers formulas that generate virtually no greenhouse gas during implementation. But TPF Industrie does not stop there. Its objective is to offer an insulation with zero impact on the environment, the company has invested more than 1 million euros additional to carry out its research.
The R&D department of the new plant is already working on new formulas that will be composed of bio-sourced raw materials and also recycled polyurethane sanding waste in order to offer, within eighteen months, fully polyols. virtuous.
A Quality laboratory
In addition to its R&D center, TPF Industrie also has a quality laboratory. The mechanical and thermal properties of each production are checked (density, thermal conductivity, compressive strength and dimensional stability) before each delivery in order to allow its customers to manufacture a polyurethane of constant quality in accordance with the requirements of the certifications that frame the processes. In addition, TPF Industrie has also equipped itself with a ventilated spray booth allowing the properties of polyol formulations to be tested in real conditions and to check the characteristics once mixed with a reactive agent.
TPF aims for 20% of the French floor insulation market in 2024
Projected insulation represents 15% of the floor insulation market in France. Thanks to the quality of its polyols, TPF Industrie has established itself by distributing nearly half of the market. By 2024, TPF Industrie aims to double its market penetration by gradually replacing traditional solutions in rolls or plates.
In addition, TPF Industrie is also present on the export market with 2%. This other ambition will accompany the obtaining of specific approvals and certifications in force in our European neighbors.
Substantial storage capacity
The new TPF Industrie production plant has 1.000 m² of production and storage space on a site with a total surface area of 3.000 m². This large outdoor space allows its customers' semi-trailers to maneuver around the building. The plant has a storage capacity of 250 tonnes (two weeks of stock), it produces and delivers half of its polyol production (125 tonnes) each week to its customers.
Floor insulation: a 2 in 1 technique
The insulation of concrete slabs and wooden floors in sprayed polyurethane from TPF Industrie offers the advantage of acting as a trimming coating the technical ducts and thermal insulation. This 2-in-1 technique thus makes it possible to reduce the necessary reservation, which is more substantial, when an insulation in plates comes to relate to a classic concrete repair.
This eliminates the flatness defects of the support slab, saves money and drying times and makes the work considerably lighter.
Varied clients and partnerships at the service of innovation
TPF Industrie's customers are made up of companies and networks of applicators who market to professionals (architects, project managers, Cmistes, etc.) and private customers. The main ones are SYNERIS and OSEO, networks of applicators specializing in sprayed polyurethane, BATICONFORM, national builder and manufacturer of architectural metal frame houses and THERMIMUR, manufacturer of building systems with integrated insulation. Regarding the latter, TPF Industrie has developed a closed cell cast polyurethane at the request of its customer in order to develop an insulated concrete block. Currently, THERMIMUR has a pilot production site for insulated concrete blocks.
These concrete blocks will make it possible to build and insulate, in a single step, a house with a thermal resistance R = 5 and an aged λ of 0,025. True pioneers in the field, TPF Industrie and THERMIMUR have been collaborating for more than a year on this project, which is currently in the final phase and will eventually provide a volume of 8.000 tonnes of polyol necessary for the realization of the insulating core of the new construction elements. generation of THERMIMUR.
Finally, TPF Industrie offers its partner THERMIMUR, a high-performance polyurethane adhesive intended for sealing its concrete blocks eliminating any thermal bridge for a perfectly insulated house built more cleanly and more quickly while preserving the efforts of masons. .
