Furnished accommodation: legal setback for the city of Annecy

This measure, intended to fight against the proliferation of short-term rentals, had been voted by the agglomeration of Greater Annecy in February, for entry into force on June 1.

It aimed to "bring housing back to its primary function, which is year-round housing", and to "find a balance" between visitors and people who live and work in Annecy, the municipality had argued during the vote. .

But the administrative court of Grenoble, seized by the Annecy furnished union and the union of conciergeries of Haute-Savoie, indicated Thursday that it had pronounced the suspension of these deliberations.

The judge in chambers considered that "two grounds of illegality invoked by the applicants were likely to create serious doubt as to their legality", according to a press release.

"I take good note of this first decision pending the judgment on the merits, expected within 6 months/1 year. The decision on the merits which will come from the administrative court of Grenoble will allow us to establish a settlement that I I always wanted balanced", reacted Frédérique Lardet, President of the Greater Annecy Agglomeration.

The mayor of Annecy François Astorg declared for his part "to take note of this decision which obliges us to return to the ineffective and lax regulation of 2018 which contributes to the proliferation of the phenomenon of furnished tourist accommodation in Annecy".

"I will ask Greater Annecy next week to work on new measures to stop the disneylandization of the city of Annecy", he adds, also saying he hopes that "significant progress and up to the challenges of the territories be taken at national level".
