Information management practices made easy with Procore Document Management (GED):
We've spent a lot of time collecting feedback from our customers around the world and know that being able to collaborate with all teams wherever they are and manage documents efficiently is a real challenge. Therefore, construction document management is a huge area of focus for our industry. Indeed, in a recent global study by FMI Corp and Procore on the benefits of preconstruction, respondents estimated that rework contributes 19% of the total project cost, and only 30% of that is recoverable. This means that 70% of rework is absorbed by the contractor.
To help customers meet this challenge, we've worked with industry to develop a solution that provides a single, reliable, secure, and high-performance source for accessing, managing, and collaborating on documents from anywhere in the world. world.
The solution provides an integrated tagging experience with custom approval workflows and granular file-level permissions, helping customers meet common data environment requirements and ISO compliance standards.
IMF report on the state of global preconstruction
Kristy McKnight, Vice President of Product Management for Preconstruction, closed the Innovation Summit by sharing some key takeaways from FMI Corp's new industry report, sponsored by Procore, the State of the World's Preconstruction.
The report explores the current state of preconstruction and the characteristics of those who are doing it well. Respondents were asked to describe pre-construction practices in their organizations, tools and technologies, project experiences and outcomes.
McKnight had the opportunity to speak with Jay Bowman, industry research analyst and construction expert at FMI Corp, to dig deeper into some of the report's key findings:
- Over 75% of survey participants say they have a formal pre-construction process. However, the consistency of pre-construction suffers because the process is often determined by one person.
- Participants ranked the ability to leverage technology as the least challenging aspect of preconstruction.
- Organizations that achieve "above average" preconstruction are more likely to report higher profitability, fewer project delays, and fewer rework than organizations that perform below average.
