The Vinci group wins a huge offshore wind contract

This contract is similar to a first announced in July 2022, but on a much larger scale: these two platforms will have a total capacity of 4 GW and "will be able to supply the equivalent of a city of 4 million inhabitants. like Berlin," says Vinci.

Their commissioning is scheduled for 2029 and 2030 and they "will be among the first of such a capacity to be developed in Northern Europe".

"They will convert the alternating current produced by several wind farms into high voltage direct current (...), which will be converted back into alternating current at land stations, located approximately 400 km away", specifies Vinci.

The construction of these ground stations is also included in the contract.

The customer is the German company Amprion Offshore, one of the four transmission system operators in Germany.

This contract is more specifically awarded to a consortium made up of a subsidiary of Vinci (Dragados Offshore, a subsidiary of Cobra IS purchased by Vinci in December 2021) and the German Siemens Energy.

The construction of these platforms, planned in Cadiz (Spain), should allow the creation of more than 2.000 jobs until 2029.

In July 2022, Vinci announced a similar contract, but this time "close to a billion euros", to supply the equivalent of a city like Hamburg, i.e. 1,8 million inhabitants from 2028.
