The tunnel for line 15 South of the future Grand Paris metro has now been completely dug with the arrival of the last tunnel boring machine in Créteil, but it will still be necessary to wait four years before commissioning.
During a ceremony in Créteil, the president of the Société du Grand Paris (SGP) Jean-François Monteils praised "a great draft of 37 km" resulting from the completion of the tunnels of this metro line, which must connect Pont-de-Sèvres (in Hauts-de-Seine) to Noisy-Champs (on the border of Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne) by crossing Val-de-Marne.
Declared of public utility in December 2014, line 15 South has been under construction since March 2015. Ten tunnel boring machines have been needed to dig, since April 2018, the 33 km of the line and 4 additional km of connections, he recalled.
This link making an arc in the southern suburbs of Paris will be "longer than any line in Ile-de-France, and in France", noted Mr. Monteils.
Still, it will take another four years to complete the stations, install the tracks in the tunnels, equip them and test the equipment. The line is scheduled to open at the end of 2025.
A first piece of the Grand Paris metro must be put into service before, in spring 2024 for the Olympic Games: the extension of line 14 to the south and north, from Orly airport to Saint-Denis Pleyel (Seine- St Denis).
The opening of the other sections of the 200 km of the Ile-de-France supermetro is announced between 2026 and 2030, including extensions of line 15 to the west, north and east of Paris to form a circular line.
