"Following the conclusions of an audit requested last September by Solideo, the Pont de Bondy swimming pool project in Noisy-le-Sec was abandoned," Solideo informed after consulting administration, citing "operational difficulties that do not allow the delivery of the work to be guaranteed on time".
This project was subsidized to the tune of 5 million euros by the Solideo, an organization responsible for building long-lasting structures in connection with Paris 2024.
The Montreuil swimming pool (Maurice Thorez) will replace it as a training site, with the key to a renovation program (2,5 million euros), said the Solideo.
In Aubervilliers, another aquatic center project is currently causing a stir. This swimming pool, which should also serve as a training basin, arouses anger because it dislodges and planes part of the allotment gardens.
Seine-Saint-Denis is very poor in sports infrastructure. It "has less than 60 m2 of swimming pool for 10.000 inhabitants, against more than 160 m2 on average in Ile-de-France", according to the actors of the Olympics and the department.
In addition to the Olympic Aquatic Center (CAO) in Saint-Denis, several swimming pool projects have been completed, such as the future Marville aquatic center, which will replace the current swimming pool located in the Parc de la Courneuve, a training site for the water polo.
In addition, three temporary 50-meter swimming pools are officially offered to the communities of Seine-Saint-Denis.
Two of these pools (including one for warm-up) will be installed in La Défense Arena in Nanterre for the swimming and para-swimming events, and the water polo final of the Olympic Games.
Initially they were to be attached to the CAO, but they migrated to the west of Paris for reasons of economy. The third 50-meter pool is the pool that will serve as a warm-up near the CAO for synchronized swimming and water polo.
These basins can be transformed and developed within certain limits, but these transformations will be the responsibility of the community which will receive them, in addition to the solid building which will also house it at the expense of the community.
Several communities have already expressed their interest including Noisy-le-Sec, Bagnolet and Bobigny via the territorial public establishment Est Ensemble.
