The Senate opposes the levy of one billion euros in the funds of Action Logement

"This is not the time to do that," pleaded Valérie Létard (centrist). "In an extremely worrying situation in terms of housing, in terms of financing social housing", this levy is "particularly unacceptable", added Pierre Laurent (CRCE).

The Minister in charge of Public Accounts Olivier Dussopt assured him that "this exceptional levy is quite sustainable for Action Logement".

The Senate had already removed, in the first part of the finance bill, a grab of 300 million euros.

On the government side, this demand for efforts from certain sectors is justified by the context of the crisis. "The cash flow, resources and reserves of Action Logement have increased a lot", had argued the Minister of Housing Emmanuelle Wargon after the announcement of the puncture of a billion euros.

Created in 1953, the former 1% Logement, financed by a tax paid by companies, is not only a giant in social housing - it owns nearly a fifth of French low-rental housing - but also housing in general.

The Senate must finish Monday evening the examination of the "unrelated" articles of the draft budget. He will rule on Tuesday afternoon on the entire text.
