The revision of the regulation on construction products threatens the sector alerts the FFB

Craftsmen and building contractors would therefore be subject to new constraints initially designed for industry, such as the “CE” marking.

The FFB considers that this proposal represents an unbearable administrative and financial burden for craftsmen and building contractors, who are already subject to severe national regulatory constraints on structures. In addition to the administrative complexity and the costs induced by such an approach, this would inevitably hamper the efforts made by the sector in terms of ecological transition, adaptation to climate change and innovation.

On the other hand, the FFB supports initiatives aimed at regulating distance selling platforms, improving market surveillance and setting up a mechanism between Member States aimed at harmonizing their safety, health and environmental regulations.

For Olivier Salleron, president of the FFB: "At a time when the construction sector is at the forefront of responding to the urgency of the challenges of ecological transformation within the framework of the European Green Deal, craftsmen and entrepreneurs need a clear European legislative framework, economically stable and neutral. It is therefore imperative that the European Commission listen to us and revise its position! I will focus on this at the national level with our historic partners and at the European level by supporting our European federation, the FIEC”.
