Renewable energy producer Voltalia grows but widens its losses in 2022

The group, which joined the SBF 120 in March, achieved 469 million euros in turnover, up 31%.

It posted a net loss of 7,2 million euros, compared to 1,3 million euros in 2021.

Its gross operating surplus (Ebitda) is stable, with the commissioning of new production sites which offset the deconsolidation of two Brazilian power plants sold at the end of 2021 and lower wind resources due to unfavorable weather.

Thursday shortly before 11 a.m., its title fell 11,87% on the Paris Stock Exchange to 13,66 euros, in a market down 0,31%.

The company produces and sells electricity from its wind, solar, hydro, biomass and storage facilities.

Present in Europe, Latin America and Africa, in 2022 it experienced a record number of commissionings (442 megawatts, +42%, to reach 1.571 MW in operation) and construction starts (884 MW, +41%, to reach 1.022 MW under construction).

In a context of energy crisis favorable to renewables, which offer price stability, Voltalia also achieved a "commercial record", by tripling the volume of its new long-term electricity sales contracts.

It has a normative EBITDA target (in a context of average changes in exchange rates and solar, wind and hydraulic resources) of 275 to 300 million euros in 2023, "with significant visibility coming from the contracts already signed ".
