The Philharmonie de Paris, located in the Parc de la Villette, will officially open on Wednesday September 29 a new space of 1.000 square meters intended for children from 4 to 10 years old: La Philharmonie des enfants. It takes place in the building designed by Jean Nouvel. The Philharmonie de Paris, already recognized for the quality of its pedagogy and for raising awareness of music, together with the Philharmonie des enfants, offers a place to explore sound and music with a journey that appeals to both the body and the music. 'spirit. It leads you to be surprised but also to give free rein to your imagination.
A new place for children where the key word is FREEDOM
Great attention has been paid to the staging of this space, entrusted to the designer Constance Guisset who carried out the scenography and designed a proposal imbued with poetry, marked by remarkable work around materials.
The Children's Philharmonic is an open, welcoming, joyful place; it is both a playground and a source of wonder for the senses. It offers edutainment content in tune with the times, which put technological innovation at the service of musical education.
The desire was to create a place up to the level of children, accessible in a completely autonomous and instinctive way, without the mediation of an adult. The Children's Philharmonic is a sort of "initiatory" journey which offers children the adventure of discovering sounds and music. All these experiments have been validated by experts, musicologists and children.
A creative and design process that lasted more than three years
Great attention has been paid to the staging of this space, entrusted to the designer Constance Guisset who carried out the scenography and designed a proposal imbued with poetry, marked by remarkable work around materials.
“For the different parts of the course, I wanted to create atmospheres that remain abstract, in suggestion, without copying an identifiable place such as a cabin or a studio. By remaining in the evocation, the child can imagine and feel things in his own way. The colors and shapes have been worked on to keep it fun and accessible for children, without being infantilizing. In general, I thought of the scenography and the design of the installations to be at the service of the experience of the child… ”confides Constance Guisset during her interview with Josselin Carré, director of documentaries and recordings of live shows.
In the space called “On stage!”, For example, the children will transform into conductors: their gestures will be recorded by sensors, and a musical work will be broadcast with an intensity and a tempo based on their movements. Elsewhere, they can pick up simplified instruments, guitar, drum and keyboard, and form a group. In another room, they can play "pitch-pong" with their voice, modulating the bass and treble. Or listen to sung portraits from around the world broadcast on a giant world map.
A scenography inspired by the Tarkett universe
The universe of Tarkett, and particularly its chromatic ranges, directly inspired Constance Guisset in her scenographic choices. She then decides to use different Tarkett vinyl materials in her scenography, on the floor and in covering the furniture. The route is divided into several islets. Tarkett materials are also found in the various lecterns and manipulatives of these islands.
Constance Guisset, who wanted to work with colors and shapes to keep it fun and accessible for children, was won over by the diversity of colors in the products offered at Atelier Tarkett. Indeed, the products combine technical quality, respect for health and the environment and comfort.
For this, it chose 9 references in the Tapiflex Excellence and Platinium ranges, heterogeneous acoustic floor coverings with an intermediate foam layer to reduce sound transmission and absorb shocks. Inspired by current trends and available in many decors, these U3U4 classified solutions meet all traffic, maintenance and comfort requirements, essential qualities for this exhibition space dedicated to children and music. On the other hand, these collections are 100% recyclable, 100% phthalate free and with ultra-low VOC emissions to provide children and their parents with good air quality in all spaces.
