Faced with environmental, societal and economic challenges, the Order of Architects recalls that architectural creation provides concrete responses to residents and local decision-makers, provided that the diversity and specificities of the territories are taken into account.
These territorial meetings will encourage the necessary dialogue between architects and local actors. They will make it possible to share architectural solutions according to regional particularities, such as the retreat of the coastline, natural risks, those linked to the economy of resources, the quality of housing, etc... all subjects which have been imposed on us in recent decades.
The start of this series of meetings will be given in Lacanau on September 5 around the theme: “Adapting our territories to climate change: receding coastline, storms, floods, fires…”.
Among the themes covered, we can cite: transitional town planning in Nancy, September 11; develop and build with risks in Reunion, September 17; water at the heart of living in Les Sables d’Olonne, September 19; the renovation of schools in Marseille, September 24; recreate the link between cities and nature in Lyon, October 10; and the use of biosourced materials in construction in Mouchard (Jura), on October 15.
This series of meetings will end in November 2024, at the Salon of Mayors and Local Authorities, Porte de Versailles in Paris, with a general restitution of the events. This action will conclude the “1 mayor, 1 architect” support system, deployed since 2022, of which Prime Minister Edouard Philippe was the sponsor in 2023.
For Christophe Millet, president of the National Council: “Our ambition is to demonstrate how architecture is capable of providing answers to societal and ecological questions, including questions linked to natural disasters. Our 30.000 sisters and brothers are experimenting and finding solutions, all over France, which it is our duty to make known and share. »
