The new Center Parcs Les Landes de Gascogne will benefit from 90% carbon-free heat thanks to biomass

A strong commitment to the energy transition

Thanks to the use of wood energy, a renewable and local source of energy, the Aqua Mundo at Center Parcs will benefit from a 90% carbon-free energy mix.

This represents a saving of 2.500 tons of CO2 per year, or the equivalent of 13.630 round trips between Agen and Paris by plane.

From an economic point of view, the use of biomass makes it possible to guarantee a stable price for heat because it is disconnected from the price of fossil fuels.

A contribution to the economic dynamism of the territory

The Center Parcs biomass boiler will be equipped with a wood-fired boiler with a power of 2,3 MW and a gas boiler with a power of 4 MW.

The gas boiler intervenes in addition to the wood energy for 10% of the heat needs during winter peaks.

In addition, its power is provided to secure the production of heat in the event of failure of the biomass boiler or during maintenance phases in summer.

The biomass boiler will be commissioned for its first tests in January 2022 for industrial commissioning scheduled for spring 2022.

The investments amount to 3,1 million euros with the financial support of ADEME to the tune of 1,1 million euros.
