The Housing Alliance denounces the State's inaction which costs the construction-real estate sector more than 10.000 jobs every month

The partners of the Housing Alliance – the FFB, USH, FNAIM, FPI, Pôle Habitat FFB, PROCIVIS, UNIS, UNNE, UNSFA and UNTEC have been warning, for two years, on the consequences linked to the fall in the production of social and free housing across all territories.

This reality strikes many fellow citizens today, stuck in their life and/or professional journey due to lack of adequate housing. It also hits hard all companies in the sector whose failures are increasing. And it worries many local elected officials who note a damaged fabric of local actors, job destruction and the growing difficulties of project leaders in balancing their operations which could ultimately lead to outright abandonment of them.

The Alliance for Housing, with the strength of the professionals who make it up, demands a start because housing constitutes a strategic sector for France, given its importance for the economy, employment, social cohesion and ecological transition.

The Alliance proposes various measures with immediate and powerful effects, some of which have no budgetary or fiscal cost, reflecting the urgency of expectations and the challenges. It is imperative to respond without delay to needs, in accession and rental, in social and free, in mainland and rural areas, and to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement on the climate. The sector needs visibility and stability to enable it to launch the investments necessary for its development. And the French need support measures to regain confidence and commit to their real estate projects.

Professionals are therefore urgently requesting the implementation of a multi-year plan built with them because housing is a long-term sector, whether it involves construction or renovation. There will be no reindustrialization or full employment without consideration of territorial planning.

The Housing Alliance requests to be received by the Prime Minister upon his appointment, in order to relaunch the act of building from the 2025 Finance Bill, especially since housing constitutes a contributory sector in net balance to the National budget.

Beyond the discussions already underway with the Senate, the Alliance is also counting on the new National Assembly to fully address these subjects, and wishes to be heard by the presidents of the finance and economic affairs committees as soon as they are installed.
