Recently delivered, the new head office of the Port combines a compact envelope and high-performance insulation to minimize energy consumption, natural lighting of the premises to limit the use of artificial light and enhancement of solar gain thanks to a facing that acts as a second skin on the four facades.
Launched on the French market just over a year ago, Copanel, a mineral fiber-cement facade facing, was chosen by Bertrand Pourrier, architect of the project, for its ability to combine ease of installation, mechanical strength and durability. Also applied as an interior coating within the building, it expresses its full potential as a decorative material.
Copanel, the combination of technical performance and installation comfort
Used both as a facade cladding and an openwork sunshade, the Copanel is positioned in alternating vertical strips around the building. It lets in light and regulates the solar gain, while protecting the occupants from the inconvenience of direct sunlight linked to the east-west orientation.
Edged and squared in the factory, the large-format fiber cement sheets were cut and drilled to plans before their delivery to the site to allow simple and rapid implementation by the laying company. Visible from inside the building, the siding has benefited from a specific treatment of double sanding on the front and rear sides.
Attached by lacquered rivets to the color of the plates directly on the metal framework that surrounds the Maison du Port, the Copanel is an integral part of the building envelope.
Applied inside the building, the facing easily finds its place, combining comfort for the occupants (low emission of Volatile Organic Compounds) and highly qualitative aesthetics.
Natural tinted mineral facade cladding
Made from natural mineral materials, Copanel is a facade cladding made of high density fiber cement sheets, which combines lightness and unequaled resistance capacities.
Breathable and waterproof, the Copanel demonstrates optimal consistency and durability thanks to its double compression manufacturing process and autoclave stabilization (300 kg / cm2). It actively participates in Thermal Insulation by the Exterior and effectively improves the energy performance of buildings.
Available in three solutions - Hydro, Antigraffiti and Color - which meet the specificities of each construction, the Copanel is available in a wide range of mass tinted colors, which gives free rein to the imagination of architects. The pigments used give each panel its own material effects and mineral nuances and make it unique.
