"The objective is that each district, around 1.500 districts in city policy, has set up, under the aegis of the prefects, working meetings with the inhabitants, associations, elected officials, where everyone exchanges and co-construct," minister Olivier Klein told AFP.
"We try to give ourselves 100 days, the 'spring of the districts'", said the minister.
The State and the communities must negotiate, by the beginning of 2024, the new city contracts which define the policy in terms of urban renewal, integration or security in priority districts.
The meetings, inspired by the thematic national councils for refoundation (CNR) launched by Emmanuel Macron in September, will be overseen at the national level by a "citizen participation in the neighborhoods" commission, the ministry said.
Chaired by Mohamed Mechmache, founder of the ACLEFEU association, this commission will be made up of residents of priority neighborhoods, state representatives, associations, researchers and local elected officials.
She "will look at the various returns that will be carried out in these territories and guarantee that we have a Neighborhoods 2030 project in the image of each district", explained Mr. Klein.
