The government defines an action plan to promote housing for civil servants

This Committee, which should meet every three months, brought together in particular the Minister for the Civil Service, Stanislas Guerini, as well as the Ministers Delegate in charge of Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, Housing, Olivier Klein, and Education and Professional Training, Carole Grandjean.

"Housing represents nearly 20% of the French budget today. This leads many public officials, caregivers, teachers, prison guards, to carry out daily sometimes more than 2 or 3 hours of transport to reach their place of work," the government said in a statement.

In addition to the new Interministerial Committee, the action plan provides for the launch, by the end of 2023, of a platform which will offer housing offers to public officials and inform them about the aid available to them.

Their support will also be strengthened in terms of social access to property.

The ambition is also to build 500 new homes for public officials on three plots in Ile-de-France. According to the Ministry of Transformation and Public Service, these are located in Aubervilliers, Suresnes and in the XNUMXth arrondissement of Paris.

Study work has also been launched to build new housing on public land.

Finally, a mission is entrusted to the deputy David Amiel to "work on the legal levers and the tools to be mobilized to improve access to housing for agents". In particular, it will examine the possibility of creating a specific lease for civil servants, the ministry said.

While the government wishes to make the civil service more attractive, the action plan aims to "facilitate access to housing adapted to the family, geographical and economic conditions of the agents, to support them in their rental and accession procedures to the property, helping them reduce their commuting time to work," the statement said.
