The Government announces the payment of an exceptional energy check of 100 euros for the most modest households

Regarding gas, the Regulated Sales Tariffs, which are determined by the Energy Regulatory Commission, monitor changes in wholesale market prices every month, which directly leads to an increase in consumers' bills. Electricity TRVs are revised twice a year. Their next development is scheduled for early 2022.

To cope with this economic situation likely to directly affect the most modest households, Jean Castex, Prime Minister, announced during a trip devoted to energy renovation in Chilly-Mazarin, in the presence of Barbara Pompili, Minister of Ecological transition, and Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister for Housing, the payment of an exceptional energy check before the end of 2021. This aid will be paid in December to all 5,8 million households who have already benefited from the energy check in spring 2021 and will be in the amount of 100 euros.

The energy check is a device created in 2018 by the Government to help the most vulnerable households pay their energy bills.

The energy check covers part of the energy bills for housing or energy renovation work. In spring 2021, it benefited more than 5,8 million households (compared to 5,5 million in 2020) for an average amount of 150 euros. The exceptional check of 100 euros of December 2021 will be added to this first wave, and will be followed by the usual wave of spring 2022.

The energy check is automatically sent by post to eligible people according to their tax income. No action is necessary to receive it.

What can beneficiary households pay with their energy voucher?

• Supplier invoices electricity, gas, heating oil or other heating fuels (wood, etc.);
• Heating charges included in the fees for residential homes approved for personalized housing assistance (APL), as well as in EHPADs, EHPAs, independent residences, establishments and long-term care units;
• Certain expenses related to the energy renovation of housing, carried out by a certified professional "Recognized as guarantor of the environment" (RGE).

All professionals in the sectors concerned are required to accept the energy check.

“Since the start of the five-year term, the energy check, carried by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, has helped millions of French people pay their energy bills. In the context of a cyclical rise in energy prices, the Prime Minister has decided to use this tool, which has already proven itself to protect the poorest households. The services of my ministry are fully mobilized so that beneficiaries can use this complementary check this winter. Beyond this short-term assistance, the Government is implementing a policy of massive support for energy efficiency and energy savings, in particular thanks to Ma Prime Rénov ', to protect the climate and the purchasing power of the French . " said Barbara Pompili, Minister for the Ecological Transition.
