The future "Pinel +" device should integrate housing quality criteria

"The selected criteria will be unveiled in mid-October," said a statement from the ministry, which presented Wednesday a benchmark on the quality of housing, produced at his request by Laurent Girometti, general manager of Epamarne and François Leclercq, architect-urban planner.

The reference system proposes in particular to establish a criterion of a "minimum surface area per type of housing, a guarantee of better comfort and more versatility over time". He also suggests considering the brightness and interior layout.

"Without establishing a new standard, it constitutes a balanced base which elected officials and operators could seize," commented Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister responsible for Housing, quoted in the press release.

"For citizens to accept densification, construction near their homes, and to make cities attractive, desirable housing is needed," she added.

The Minister of Housing will propose a decree in mid-October specifying the outlines of the "Pinel +" device, which will then be submitted for consultation for implementation in 2023.

The "Pinel" device, currently in force, should gradually disappear by the end of 2024. It consists in reducing the taxes of the purchaser of a new home, on condition that he rents it while respecting a maximum level of rent.
