The Salvation Army Foundation and Plurial Novilia deliver a new social complex in Reims

The project – called “A roof for the future” – hosts a boarding house with 25 places and an accommodation and support structure for around ten victims of domestic violence, some of whom are accompanied by children.

The boarding house offers accommodation without time limit to fragile people, socially isolated, in a precarious situation and having experienced a path of exclusion. This type of structure, which offers a friendly setting where residents feel "at home" while benefiting from collective spaces conducive to meeting, sharing and participating in collective activities, is set to develop throughout France. . This building consists of four volumes built in R + 1 of square shape joined by common parts (circulations, stairs and an elevator). Each volume is of identical proportion and height.

The support structure for victims of domestic violence welcomes people referred by the Marne Integrated Reception and Orientation Service, ensuring their protection and medico-social follow-up.

Sustainable construction in line with environmental standards

This building consists of three volumes built in R + 1 of square form joined by common parts (circulations and staircases). Each volume is of similar proportion and height.

The Esquisse+ architecture firm has endeavored to preserve a cocoon for these buildings to accommodate people in difficulty, in particular by directing the outdoor spaces (gardens) shared inside the plot and to create a built front from the public space. The program oriented towards small typologies allows to give independence to each resident. The latter can meet in the common areas and the various services dedicated to them, under the stewardship of The Foundation.

In terms of materials used:

• The facades are coated in beige with a fine float on the upper floors. The ground floor is protected by a facing brick.
• All the frames are made of wood.
• The recesses between each building are gray in color to promote the porosity of the imposing linear facade facing the street and glazed to illuminate the interior circulation spaces.
• Each dwelling will be able to benefit from a double orientation to promote the natural ventilation of the dwellings.
