The energy performance diagnosis (DPE) changes on July 1

DPEs carried out between July 1, 2021 and July 1, 2024 for these small areas will be able to benefit from a new certificate reflecting the update of the energy label. In the absence of this certificate, the initial DPE will remain valid[2].

These modifications aim to provide a fairer assessment of the energy performance of studios and small apartments, thus increasing their value and attractiveness on the real estate market. The current calculation method disadvantages small areas by overestimating their energy consumption per square meter.

In addition, the impact of ECD reforms on small-scale housing and the real estate market is notable. Improving their label not only makes these homes more attractive on the market, but also encourages owners to invest in a renovation, since they know that their effort will now be recognized.
