As a solution to these antagonisms, rare ten years ago, Pascal Lenormand proposes in his book a new concept: the energy design of buildings.
In the manner of Kâma Sûtra reviewing the subjects related to the harmony of the couple, the author shows how, by replacing the human and the search for happiness of the other at the heart of practice and techniques, this new track is the key to satisfying the users of tomorrow's buildings. A concept too often set aside in this area.
For Pascal Lenormand, an atypical energy supplier and rebellious, convinced that classic energy approaches are unsuitable for the challenges of our time, the transition begins above all with a change of outlook, behavior ... and posture on the part of all players.
Far from opposing the laws of thermics, the author shows in this work how to register them in a humanist and realistic approach, in touch with the ground, because life invites itself in energy questions. “What is at stake is to stop considering the building alone as the object of study, but the user / building couple as a whole. This requires nothing less than adding a large component of social skills to a certain technical know-how (in energy, in thermal envelopes, in system design, etc.). "
Determining the thermal needs of users, negotiating the uses of future inhabitants, cultivating empathy with them, awakening love between architects and engineers ... these are some of the keys to the success of this approach for the future proposed by the author.
The preface by Dominique Gauzin-Müller, recognized architect, specialist in eco-responsible town planning and architecture and the afterword by Olivier Sidler, energy specialist, co-founder of the negaWatt Association are all symbols of this spirit of openness.
Sometimes provocative, often original, but always fair and relevant, Pascal Lenormand sprinkles his story with many features of humor, inviting us to follow him on the paths of nonconformism and humanist reflection, passing happily from the fable to the practical manual . One of the rare works written by an engineer, but intended to be read by all the actors of the building, from the designers to the users.
The author
Pascal Lenormand is a graduate engineer from Supaéro and Sup de Co Toulouse (1999) and specializes in energy and building (ASDER 2006). After a very short stint in the space industry, he began his career in the international sports industry, as an expert in human thermal engineering, then he became responsible for the range of mountain equipment. After retraining in 2006, he co-founded the Incub 'design office, specializing in energy efficiency. He also participated in the design of several hundred buildings, in project management or in assistance with project management. Consultant to the National Council of the Order of Architects, he is co-designer of the OSCAR software. In addition, he is also a consultant to international sports companies. Professional musician and artist, Pascal Lenormand translated, in 2012, Meditation, a contemplative research (Arthur Zajonc).
