This insurance, officially launched on January 9 by the mutualist group Vyv (Harmonie Mutuelle, MNT), potentially concerns 400.000 Parisian households and offers a single price, in all the districts, according to the number of rooms, the town hall said in a press release. .
"This will represent savings for tenants ranging from 50 euros to nearly 250 euros per year compared to the average insurance market", adds the city, which thus wishes "to restore purchasing power to Parisian tenants".
In addition to living in Paris, two conditions are necessary to be able to subscribe: to be a tenant of your main residence and to have a reference tax income of less than 24.316 euros gross for a single person, and 36.341 euros for two people.
“We started from the observation that many Parisians are poorly insured and we launched a call for expressions of interest for which we received nine offers”, specified PCF housing assistant Ian Brossat, specifying that the city “does not don't put your hand in your pocket".
"This experience makes sense, beyond purchasing power. Today, the middle class is also a fragile public, you have to be able to retain them in Paris," said PS mayor Anne Hidalgo.
Some 1.500 pre-registrations have already been recorded and 200 subscriptions made.
"Our objective is not to make a margin but to break even within five years at the rate of 15.000 subscriptions per year", explained Benjamin Haddad, vice-president of Vyv Conseil.
"We wanted to offer the simplest possible offer, without exclusion at the entrance, and contracts without small lines as is often reproached to insurers", he added.
