The CFDT will “certainly not” call for demonstrations to “put pressure” on the National Assembly

“We will never defend a political group by saying that it is it that must exercise power, and we will never call for mobilization to put pressure on an institution,” assures AFP Marylise Léon , recalling the motto of his organization "neither neutral nor partisan".

“Democratically, this is not the role of the CFDT and it goes against what we need in terms of appeasement” in the country, judges the boss of the first French union.

In a press release sent on Monday, La France Insoumise joined this call, inviting its supporters “to participate massively in all the initiatives decided” for this Thursday, July 18, to denounce “Emmanuel Macron’s coup”.

At the beginning of July, the CFDT, alongside the CGT, Unsa, FSU and Solidaires, called "to block the extreme right", estimating that "the extreme right in power means less rights for the representation of workers in businesses and administrations", among others.

Faced with the presence of far-right candidates in its ranks, the CFDT has also “excluded 8” members.
