The administration validates the PSE of the Grandpuits refinery

The Direccte (general management of companies for competition, consumption, labor and employment) of Île-de-France "decides that the collective agreement relating to the plan to safeguard the employment of the company Total Raffinerie France is validated ", indicates a letter from the administration dated March 31, according to a representative of the CFDT (1st union at Total) for refining-petrochemicals.

The agreement submitted by the management was signed at the end of February by the CFDT, FO and the CFE-CGC after almost 40 days of strike on the site.

Total announced in September that refining at Grandpuits would cease at the end of 2021 and the storage of petroleum products at the end of 2023 to make way for a conversion project focused on the production of biofuels and bioplastics, and the operation of two solar photovoltaic plants.

Estimated at 500 million euros, this redeployment will not lead to any layoffs but to early retirement and internal mobility, according to the group, which has ensured that 250 jobs out of the 400 that the Grandpuits platform today has and the associated Gargenville repository would be maintained.

For the CGT, which indicates in a press release "reserve the possibility" of taking legal action to invalidate the PSE, this agreement will ratify "700 job cuts" among staff and subcontractors.

According to the trade union organization, this PSE "reproduces factory models developed in Thailand or Spain. The Direccte, and through this the State itself, therefore assumes to endorse the existence of a real powder keg in Seine-et-Marne. We affirm that this poses the risk of a new + Lubrizol + in the department ".

The fire that occurred on September 26, 2019 on a site classified as Seveso high threshold of the Lubrizol company in Rouen had caused an immense cloud of black smoke 22 km long.
