The Acieo Group is mobilizing its expertise as part of the construction of the new Nantes University Hospital hospital

With expertise in metalwork, cladding and metal framework, the Ateliers David teams actively participate in the construction and development of several blocks of the real estate project, meeting the most demanding technical requirements.

With a floor area of ​​225.000 m² and spread over more than 10 hectares, the construction project for the new Nantes University Hospital, launched in June 2022 and scheduled for delivery in 2026, is currently the largest hospital construction site in Europe. This site is divided into 4 separate blocks. Specializing in metal framework, metalwork, and cladding, Ateliers David, a subsidiary of the ACIEO Group, is involved in contracts signed with NGE BÂTIMENT for block 1, VINCI Construction and the ETPO Group for block 2.

High-precision intervention

On block 1, Ateliers David mainly works in metalwork, producing structural elements such as railings and stairs. On block 2, which consists of several buildings, their role intensifies with the design and installation of 15 external metal walkways. These walkways connect the different hospital units and are of significant complexity, requiring specific qualifications. As required in the technical specifications of the specifications, the company uses its EN 1090 level EXC 3 certification, which guarantees exceptional rigor in traceability and safety of welds, essential for structures open to the public. This certification attests to the know-how and mastery of complex industrial processes of Ateliers David.

Ateliers David is also involved in the installation of nearly 8.000 m² of cladding in anodized perforated aluminum cassettes.

Building F of block 2, considered the technical nerve center of the future Nantes University Hospital, also hosts the intervention of Ateliers David. This building is divided into two entities: F square, where the central pharmacy, linen room, preparation rooms and technical workshops are located, and F point, which groups together the technical infrastructures such as the medical fluid reserves or the substation. On these essential structures, Ateliers David ensures the installation of metal frames for technical supports and frames for exterior cladding.

As part of the construction of the new Nantes University Hospital, Ateliers David is fully committed to reducing its carbon footprint by using innovative and sustainable materials. For this iconic project, some beams and merchant bars were manufactured using ARCELOR's XCarb® steel, a low-carbon steel designed to combine strength and respect for the environment. This choice demonstrates the ACIEO group's desire to combine technical performance and ecological responsibility by adopting solutions that meet the challenges of energy and climate transition.
