Technal launches the 2nd edition of its international architecture competition "WATA"

For this second edition, architects and TECHNAL clients from all over the world can apply online (www.registration.imaginewata.com) until May 31st. In France, Spain and Portugal, the projects representing these countries will come from the ARCHITECTURE ALUMINUM TECHNAL AWARDS of the last editions.

The WATA competition once again confirms the close collaboration between TECHNAL and the specifiers. It will distinguish the works proudly displaying the colors of architecture and the brand through nine categories:

• PRICE TO LIVE - Individual Housing
• LIVING Price - Collective Housing
• REHABILITATE Prize - Renovations
• Price REHABILITATE - Extensions
• STUDY Prize - Culture and Education
• WORK Prize - Tertiary sectors, offices, shops, industries, health establishments, etc.
• Skyscraper prices
• DISCOVER Award - Leisure, Tourism and Entertainment
• SUSTAINABILITY Award

Two Special Prizes will also be awarded: the “NEXT TALENT” Prize for which architecture students will be able to vote in July and the “IMAGINE WATA” Prize awarded by the partners of the event.

Behind the scenes of the WATA competition

The jury, which will meet on June 22, is made up of seven international architects:

• its President, Brian Kleiver, SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) (United Arab Emirates, Dubai)
• Sylvie Bruyninckx, VIVA ARCHITECTURE (Belgium)
• Lucía Ferrater, OAB OFFICE OF ARCHITECTURE IN BARCELONA (Spain)
• Vasco Leonidas, NLA Arquitetos (Portugal)
• Moheb Marcos, ECG (Engineering Consultants Group SA) (Egypt)
• Afsar Mirza, GENSLER (UK)
• Patrick Miton, SOHO ATLAS IN FINE architecture and urbanism (France)

The award ceremony will take place in France, in October, on the occasion of BATIMAT. All winners will be invited to Paris. They will visit the show as well as the most emblematic Parisian works. To promote their architectural creativity on the international scene, an architecture book presenting each award-winning project will be published.
