France, a breeding ground for entrepreneurship, despite a more complex economic context
France is perceived by 77% of entrepreneurs as a country conducive to business creation, but 75% of them still encounter obstacles to developing their business in the country. First of all, it is the question of financing which comes first for 73% of respondents, well above regulatory constraints. A result which takes place in a particular context, marked by a tightening of financing conditions.
In this new landscape, entrepreneurs consider the question of profitability to be the number one priority. Indeed, for the majority of them (72%), it will be the first criterion of success for a start-up within 10 years, ahead of its turnover (35%) and its social and societal impact ( 35%).
And even if it is in France that they innovate, French entrepreneurs remain totally immersed in globalization. Today, 95% of them say they are considering international development within 5 years. The United States remains a key destination, with 58% considering a presence there within 5 years, ahead of Germany (50%) which seems the most attractive for the deployment of start-ups ahead of Spain (39%), the United Kingdom (30%) and Italy (29%).
A French Tech focused on industrialization
More focused on disruptive innovations, French Tech entrepreneurs do not remain confined to the creation of platforms or services: today, 69% of French Tech 2030 winners and 16 French Tech Next40/120 winners already own a factory or have a factory project. A trend that will only continue to grow since 34% of the managers surveyed responded that they plan to build a factory in the coming years.
Entrepreneurs always attentive to societal issues
Despite the economic context, entrepreneurs do not compromise on the social commitments that make up their DNA: 85% of them say they have set objectives to achieve in terms of parity within their organization, and 80% of them they declare that they have a strategy to respond to current ecological challenges. Strong commitments which prove that their desire to have a positive impact on society remains intact.
For Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate for Digital Affairs: “Despite a more difficult economic context, this survey proves that French Tech remains as attractive and dynamic as ever. This is a very strong signal. In 10 years, it has become a real pillar of our economy participating in value creation. For example, almost half of respondents (43%) plan to create more than 50 jobs in the next 5 years. This result reinforces our desire to continue to develop optimal conditions for our entrepreneurs to innovate in the territory and participate in the sovereignty of France! »
For Clara Chappaz, director of the French Tech Mission: “The results of this survey are very positive. They confirm the solidity of the Tech ecosystem in France and highlight the concerns of our start-ups. I am particularly pleased to see that half of the entrepreneurs questioned have the short-term objective of achieving parity within the next 5 years. This is a collective issue and we need to move forward with all entrepreneurs so that tomorrow our ecosystem better reflects our society in terms of parity and diversity. »
